Hi friends,
So I've not posted a new musing this week because I've been kinda busy. Doing what, you ask? GIVING BIRTH!
But before we go giving me kudos for natural childbirth and all that huffing and puffing, let me admit that the child is a 200 page book! Duirwaighs and Dreamfields is complete! Well, the first draft anyway. It's right now being shipping off to an author friend of mine who has agreed to do the first official read-through.
I must confess I've never thought of myself as an author, so this process has been full of revelations for me. I keep walking by the author-mirror going, "Oh, it's you!" My friends and family say they've seen this coming for years but it's all new to me. Hey, I said I was inspiring and witty (and modest, of course.) I never said I was quick. (Except when I'm around Silas. He's so tortoise-slow, I'm a hare by default. Just one of the many reasons I keep him around. He makes me look good.)
There is a big, fat, juicy story as to how this book was written in thirty days and how I came to realize I could do it. (It was a big surprise thirty eight years in the making. Again, never claimed the quick-thing.) I'll have to post that later. Suffice to say I am very excited and want to stand on the street corners and hold up copies of the manuscript for people to pick up on their way to work. Yup, that's me. Roll down your window and give me a buck and I'll give you a chapter. And remember. Tipping is not a city in China.
That's it. Just wanted to let you know where I've been. Oh yeah. If you want to read a sample half-chapter, just click here. If you like what you read, SIGN UP for the Dreamfields list. It's on the link I just gave you. I'll send you updates, chapter snippets and any news pertaining to the book. Of course, you're welcome to shout from the rooftops, hire a plane for sky-writing or join me on the street corners for chapter-peddling. I hear it's a great way to get a tan.
I think I can! I think I can!
~angi

Congratulations from the rooftops on your journey!
As a writer myself, I salute another 'turtle' when they finish anything.
Good luck and good cheer to you, Angi.

Well Angi, kudos to you! I knew you could do it! I've been waiting a long time and NOW it's almost here! A piece of you, full of joy and inspiration that I can hold in my hand, laughing in parts and crying in others and all the while saying "I KNEW she could, I KNEW she could". You'll forever be my Hero!
